How Does This Website Work? | Selecting The Right Comedian | Frequently Asked Questions
Whether you're a professional event planner or organizing your first event, there are several things to consider. We've compiled a few tips to help ensure you select the perfect comedian.
Know Your Audience
Every comedian on Comedybids.com has a unique style. Some of our comedians play in the guitar in their act, others interact with their audience, still others specialize in squeaky clean humor, and some are better suited for a more 'adult' crowd. Before you start your search, ask these questions about the audience that will be attending your
event:
• What kind of event are you planning? An audience at a corporate event, for example, will probably not want the same kind of entertainment as an audience at a wedding. Read through each comedian's Comedybids.com webpage to ensure that you find an entertainer who specializes in your kind of event.
• What kind of 'rating' would you like your show to have (G-rated, PG-13, R-rated, etc.)? Most comedians can tailor their show to meet your needs, but we highly recommend that you watch each comedian's video to get a sense of the kind of show they will offer you.
• Would your audience enjoy a comedian that specializes in audience participation? If the answer is no, ask our comedians if they provide a 'hands-off' show. "
Remember that the best way to choose the perfect entertainer for your event is by watching the videos of comedians who attract your interest.
Communicate With Our Comedians
After you receive a bid from one of our comedians, you will be provided with their contact information. We recommend talking to them by phone to get a feel for their level of professionalism. If you're still unsure about a particular comedian, this a great time to ask any questions regarding concerns or special requests. Most comedians have additional marketing materials, letters of recommendation, and professional videos. This is a great time to request that type of information.
We also recommend to our comedians that they contact you by phone or email after submitting a bid, so don't be afraid to talk on the phone. Our comedians are all nice people!
Watch Videos!
In the end, the most important thing is for people to laugh and enjoy themselves. Every comedian will have video of previous shows to illustrate their ability to show their audience a wonderful time. If you see a video that makes you laugh and also makes you confident that your audience will relate to the material, we think you've found your entertainment.
Professionalism Matters
One of our comedian's responsibilities is to ease the process of hiring and providing entertainment for your audience. We always recommend choosing a comedian that displays high levels of professionalism and communicates well with their clients. Check a particular comedian's feedback and ask for letters of recommendation to get a sense for how easy they will be to work with.
Budget Considerations
ComedyBids.com provides a unique opportunity for you to browse numerous comedians with different fee ranges.
- Tip #1: Comedians provide a fee range because the price they charge for events changes according to several variables: time of the year, cost of travel, etc. For example, an entertainer will generally charge more for a Saturday in December than for a Tuesday in June.
- Tip #2: It is not always the best idea to go with the best 'deal.' While there is no perfect relationship between a particular comedian's fee and his/her ability, comedians who charge a higher fee typically have more experience and a long track record of success.
- Tip #3: Comedians typically charge by the event or by the day. Asking for a shorter show will probably not change the price; however, this can vary from comedian to comedian.
- Tip #4: If you are working with a small budget, try to find a comedian close to your city or town to cut down on travel expenses. |
